What? Sign languages are not international? Why?



Sign languages are different around the world. Many countries have several sign languages. There are about three hundred sign languages in use around the world. 

American sign language (ASL) has influence in many sign languages, but national sign languages are mainly used in the countries. 


There are three sign languages in Vietnam in different areas: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Haiphong. Actually, there is also several signs for the country of Vietnam. They are part of a sign language area that includes indigenous sign languages of Laos and Thailand, though it is not known if they are related to each other. There is also some influence from French Sign Language (FSL). There are attempts to develop a national standard language, Vietnamese Sign Language.
