Literature 2: Learning sign language

The name of this book is not so nice, but it has a good overview in American Sign language (ASL). Some ideas can be borrowed to other sign languages and this book is written in a way that is understandable even if you have not studied any sign languages.

In the first part is introduction how you can learn to sign and what are sign languages. Second part is preparing you to learn parts of a sign and variations of signs. There is introduction about fingerspelling and ABC and numbers. These are good parts to know before you start to study your country's own national sign language.

Later parts of the book concentrate in ASL so these are usable only if you want to learn American signs. Other sign languages you need to find the right signs from your own country's sign language dictionaries and videos and sign language users.
