AAC How to train easy language?

Teacher can plan exercises for students to practice speaking and writing easy language.

Students can for example rewrite a text or concept to easy language. Subjects can be for example a story, a treatment of an illness, instructions to use some machine or service and so on.

There are rules how to write easy language. You should use:

  • understandable words
  • clear setting
  • clear font
  • one utterance per line

and these rules can be modified to fit to other languages.

Here is one example of easy language. The terms Human Rights and abuse can be written in easy language like this:

Human Rights

Human Rights are the rights that every person should have.

For example, the right to live.

Or the right to speak your mind.

This can be that the person shouts at you.

This can also be that the person hurts you or is violent in another way.

Abuse

Abuse is when someone treats you badly.
